Week 17

SEPTEMBER 1ST 2014!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Australian Father's Day! Well, it's on the 7th but close enough. Fathers have a divine role in people's eternal lives. I of course think of my own father, Scott Bullock, who has always been there to provide for me spiritually and temporally as well. Second, I think of my church leaders. How diligently my young men’s leaders, bishops, and stake and mission presidents have taught me how to prepare and become a father myself. Thirdly, I think of my Father in Heaven. I think of Him and his infinite love and blessings He has for me. I love them all. I especially love you dad. You are the man. You have boldly led our family to the point where we all are now. Thank you for everything you have done for me.

Week 16 - Temple Week!

August 21st 2014

Things are going well! Lessons are increasing, people are getting more interested and Elder Layton and I are smashing it harder than ever. Yesterday we had district meeting with President Henderson and 2/4 AP's. President did a training following Elder Layton and Elder To'omata. The training was about applying what you know and revelation through the Book of Mormon. How well can you implement/execute/engage? We need to remember that the GOSPEL is the way we get home. We DO NOT BELONG HERE!!!! Part of my job is to help others remember that they are children of our loving Heavenly Father. The most high and powerful being in the universe. We get to return to him if we do the simple things he asks. We must, it is absolutely required of us, to have faith, repent, partake of the sacrament each week (to renew our baptismal covenants), be worthy of and listen to the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end whilst doing good works among others and fulfilling further ordinances. There is no other way. There will never be another way. I love these people enough to go out and tell them that every single day. 99% of them don't care.

August 28th  2014

Temple PDAY!!!!! It's and amazing day to go and learn in the House of the Lord. I am very excited. It was such an awesome week. We are teaching this new family, the Platz/Jelic family. They just moved from Loganholme area. The Sister Missionaries were teaching them for about 4 months. Kath is a disfellowshipped JW. We spent our whole first lesson pretty well bashing and disproving the JW bible. It was hilarious. At the end she said "I can't believe how brainwashed I was." It was crack up. Just a few days back before we taught them a JW lady tried to convert me and she gave me their bible. I was reading it a bit just to see how it was. It is soooo corrupt. They are such a solid family. And her partner's name is Scott so I found that funny. I've also met a Madison and a Logan. I found it funny. LOVE YOU ALL :)

Week 15 - Learning new things! The rain here is wet!

August 15th 2014
A proverb says

"The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is now."

Something that I learned from that is if you want to be something, don't wait for it. Don't expect it to come. Do it now! I want to be the best missionary I can possibly be. Instead of thinking about who I will be a year from now, I am going to be that missionary now. The best time to be who you want to be is now.

August 16th 2014
I hope they call me on a mission, where it will rain a foot or two. I AM DRENCHED. It rained heaps today. But according to Australian missionary legend, every hour you spend in the rain, your eternal companion will spend an hour at the gym... So that's good news! Seriously though, even though we are soaked, we have seen many miracles today. Lots of new investigators, lots of people progressing, and tons of potentials to follow up with. Stake conference is this weekend so that will be fun. President Henderson, the temple president, and an area 70 will be there so I have that to look forward to. It will be a very edifying experience.

Week 14 - Baptism! A day as me!

August 6th 2014

A day in the life of Elder Bullock. Wake up, pray, exercise, shower and eat. Personal study and companionship study. Leave flat and bike 15k to area. Start knocking doors for 4 hours. 20 doors slammed, 8 people swearing and yelling, 31 people not interested, 1 person trying to tear us down, 1 person kind of interested. Go and follow up with 8 people who said they might be interested. All 8 not interested. Go and visit less active member, bless sick child. Go to 2 investigator appointments. 1 telling us not to come around. 1 wants to get baptized. Go to members house for dinner, share spiritual thought and play games with the kids. Start bike ride back to the flat. 50k total. Person throwing beer bottles at me while biking. Get back to the flat. Plan for tomorrow, change, eat dinner, pray, sleep. 6:30 AM alarm.

August 8th 2014

This mission is crazy. So far I have given away a Book of Mormon in Serbian, Tongan, Japanese, Samoan, Cambodian, and Korean!

August 9th 2014

Woohoo! Michelle is baptized! It was an awesome experience. I was very fortunate to be able to help bring another soul unto Christ.  The Holy Ghost was so powerful while troubles nothing could stop us from baptizing! The baptismal dress went missing, the TV remote for our video presentation was locked up and the font overflowed but everything still went well after dealing with those problems.

August 10th 2014

What an incredible day. I had the amazing opportunity to complete the baptismal ordinance with confirming Michelle a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and giving her the Gift of the Holy Ghost. The spirit was so strongly felt; I could barely speak to give the blessing. I was literally a gateway to Heaven as I gave her the blessing.  I felt the Holy Ghost pass through my chest to my fingers. I cannot even begin to describe the immense joy that I felt as I did the same things Christ him self have done.

Week 13 - Malo

August 1st 2014

I was studying and found this beautiful passage of scripture. It's Alma talking to Helaman.

"...heed to the word of Christ, which will point to you a straight course to eternal bliss... the words of Christ, if we follow their course, carry us beyond this vale of sorrow into a far better land of promise." - Alma 37:44-45

August 2nd 2014

We have officialy started "Acension August"! Our goal is to have a repeat of Joyful June. As a district we are looking forward to contributing 6 of the 100 baptisms. Hopefully we stretch past the 105 and reach 106! Elder Layton is great. We have heaps of random similarities. We both played trumpet, his birthday is June 1st so he is a day older than me, we both have asthma and random allergies, and of course we are both from Alberta. We are working really well together and have a baptism on the 9th. Woot! The baptism is for Michelle Hemopo, a 9 year old girl who's family has just recently started to come back to church. She asked me to baptize her so that will be a very amazing experience I'm sure. I look forward to many miracles this month.
